What is ACell therapy?

ACell, a biotechnology company that specializes in regenerative and tissue repair technology, developed the MatriStem™ multilayer wound matrix device to restore hair thinning and loss.

This nonsurgical process helps with different types of hair loss, such as pattern baldness or hair loss from nutritional deficiencies and medical treatment. It yields the most success if done in the early stages of that process.

How does it help your hair?

The protein matrix that we use in the treatment stimulates healing in the skin and promotes growth of hair over the course of months. We use a local anesthetic, then inject the ACell material, which triggers tissue regeneration by activating adult stem cells.

The process takes about a half hour, and within three months, you should see significant improvement in the thickness of your hair. We recommend multiple injections (two or three times annually) to maintain results.

How does PRP therapy work with ACell?

Platelet-rich plasma therapy also works to stimulate the scalp into regrowing hair in regions of hair loss, typically treating androgenetic alopecia, or pattern baldness. Similar to the ACell process, PRP also gets the body’s healing factors working.

With PRP therapy, we draw blood and then run it through a centrifuge to separate out the various components, including platelets. Once done, we inject the PRP and ACell mixtures. The treatment may take up to 45 minutes.
